Advanced HVAC For A Changing World

Balancing Innovation and Sustainability

The Mitsubishi community of companies share a strong sense of corporate responsibility dating back 140 years. Of our three core principles, Shoki Hoko – the responsibility we hold to society – is particularly salient in a world that sometimes struggles to balance innovation with preserving the environment.

Through its Sustainable Energy and Environment Strategic Planning Department, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries aims to provide an assured future where people can live safe and secure lives with technologies that help provide sustainability for humankind. Our Q-ton air-to-water heat pump is a great example of how we are bringing these ideals to life.

As the first manufacturer to use C02 as a refrigerant, MHIAE is paving the way for sustainability within the HVAC industry. Q-ton’s ozone depletion potential sits comfortably at zero and it’s global warming potential at 1.0, the lowest achievable score.

Not only is the unit a step in the right direction to reduce emissions, it also offers significant savings on running costs. For example, London’s Lancaster Hall Hotel is now saving 40% on running costs and cutting carbon emissions by 45%.

Elsewhere, our new wall mounted SRK ZSX series offers highly efficient cooling and heating. Its newly designed serration propeller fan requires less energy than previous models, increasing efficiency by 5%. The new ZSX heat exchanger increases efficiency a further 10% with its a unique M-shaped fin.

As well as minimising running costs and energy expenditure, the engineering and design features of the Q-ton and SRK ZSX series highlight how MHI is succeeding at balancing innovation with sustainability. We look forward to sharing more examples of how we are meeting global challenges with advance HVAC solutions here on our blog.
